Inspire d'une histoire vraie, ce film raconte l'aventure d'un groupe de femmes anglaises qui ont ose l'impensable: poser 'plus ou moins' nues pour illustrer un calendrier. Leur but? Lever des fonds pour une juste cause.

Quand le mari d'Annie meurt d'un cancer, elle a voulu offrir un sofa a l'hopital ou il a ete traite. Un confortable sofa pour les visiteurs des patients. Quand sa meilleure amie, Chris, a pour la premiere fois parle de son idee assez hors du commun, ce fut le choc dans la petite communaute. Mais Chris ne s'est pas laissee abattre, elle a mene son petit groupe la ou elle voulait et meme au-dela de son imagination la plus folle. Imaginez un groupe de femmes dans la cinquantaine ...

Une tres touchante histoire d'amitie, de generosite, de volonte et ... de femmes . A vous faire rire et pleurer. Super-cute.  

 

Pay it forward

Quand le prof d'etudes sociales demande a ses eleves de trouver une idee originale pour changer le monde, Trevor came up with a genious idea. In fact, a super-genious one: une personne doit donner un coup de main a trois autres personnes necessiteuses, sans rien demander en retour. Ces personnes, a leur tour, vont chacune faire la meme chose a trois autres personnes et ainsi de suite.

 

 

Si seulement elle pouvait se realiser pour de vrai, ca changerait toute la face de la terre. Les idealistes, les reveurs et les 'romantiques' arriveraient peut-etre au bout de leur peine un jour. L'espoir fait vivre les imbeciles, eeeeet oui ...

Quand 'Les monologues du vagin' me ramenent a ce film, je dis: super nifty! Chapeau Mialy.

True story of a mercenary in the Bosnia war whose wife and young son are killed in a terrorist bombing. Out for revenge, Guy goes on a killing spree until he witnesses a Serbian soldier kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach, causing her to prematurely deliver. When Guy kills the soldier, all three go on the run and it is up to Guy to get the mother and newborn safely out of the country.

"I know that many people consider this movie 'Politically incorrect'. Probably it is in some way. I'm not from the Balkans, but I live very near and I remember very well that war in front of my door and I was against the Serbs. This movie was made by a Serb director and show his point of view. Anyway I think that in this movie you can see what was that war for civilian people, any side they were. I found it a true document about the war, and, in the end, I was not disturbed by the fact that it was a movie from a Serb director. I think that this demonstrates that it's a good movie. After watching this movie, you don't hate the Serbs, the Croatians or the Bosnians, you hate the war for the consequences on civilian people." SandroSt

C'est terrifiant l'alzheimer. Dans un couple qui s'aime, quelle tragedie ... Un de ces films qui nous apprennent quelque chose, quelque part. La version francaise s'intitule 'Loin d'elle'.

 

Away from Her is a Genie Award-winning and Academy Award nominated English-Canadian film directed by Sarah Polley which debuted at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival and also played in the Premier category at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. The feature-length directorial debut of Canadian actress Sarah Polley, the film is based on Alice Munro's short story "The Bear Came over the Mountain", from the 2001 collection Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage. It was executive produced by Atom Egoyan (Polley's director in both Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter) and distributed by Lionsgate Films.

 

The film stars Gordon Pinsent and Julie Christie as a couple whose marriage is tested when Christie's character begins to suffer from Alzheimer's and moves into a nursing home, where she loses virtually all memory of her husband and begins to develop a romance with another nursing home resident. The cast also includes Olympia Dukakis, Michael Murphy, Wendy Crewson, Alberta Watson, and Kristen Thomson. The film was shot in Hamilton, Ontario.^[1
